Bhubaneswar's Grand Celebration of Its 77th Foundation Day

Bhubaneswar: The government of Odisha is gearing up for a spectacular two-day event to commemorate the 77th Foundation Day of Bhubaneswar on April 13 and 14, celebrating the city's rich cultural heritage and its evolution into a modern urban center.

The festivities will kick off on April 13 with a respectful garlanding of the Foundation Stone, symbolizing the city's historic beginnings.

Following this, Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy will conduct a ceremonial flag hoisting. A lively parade will then take place, highlighting Bhubaneswar's diverse cultural tapestry, moving from Rabindra Mandap Square to Soochana Bhawan.

At Soochana Bhawan, a unique photo exhibition will be launched, showcasing Bhubaneswar's transformation over the years, providing both residents and visitors with insights into the city's architectural evolution.

In the evening, Utkal Mandap will host the Rajadhani Gaurav Samman, where Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati will honor individuals who have significantly contributed to the city's development.

Additionally, winners of pre-celebration competitions will be recognized, followed by an engaging cultural program featuring local music and dance performances.

On April 14, the celebrations will continue in partnership with the Odia Pakhya initiative from the Odia Language, Literature and Culture department, emphasizing the promotion of Odia culture, art, and language, thereby reinforcing the cultural essence of the capital.

The Bhubaneswar Foundation Day and Rajadhani Mahotsav not only commemorate the city's establishment in 1948 but also highlight its growth as a symbol of Odisha's aspirations and advancements. Known as the 'Temple City of India,' Bhubaneswar seamlessly merges its ancient heritage with contemporary urban development.
